Courageous Fliers Parade of Pilots

It is hard to imagine the art and science of flight being even more exciting than it innately is, but the Red Bull Air Race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway manages to do just that! Last year, we had three kids from our Courageous Fliers program take part in the pre-race “Parade of Pilots” and ride in a pace car with Red Bull Air Race pilots from all around the world.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway is only the second venue in the United States to be selected to host this race, after Las Vegas. Indianapolis has the added distinction of being the only venue in the circuit where the airplanes take off within the race course, rather than flying in from a neighboring airport. At IMS, the airplanes take off from a straightway in the center of the field, and then enter the race course that is set up over the golf course. Pilots hit speeds of 200 miles per hour, while flying only a few hundred feet off the ground.

We love having our Courageous Fliers involved in this event, because it is just another way of building confidence by showing pilots “like them” doing amazing things that don’t seem possible. They actually get to meet people who have taken something they have experienced, flying a plane, and perfected it to an elite level.

Consider buying a ticket, and checking out this amazing event! Kids 15 and under are free with adult general admission.
